ChatGPT vs Google Bard. Nearly every one has seen the recent tech news OpenAI's ChatGPT, but now there is a new player to the space Google Bard.

What are the differences?

Is the conventional method of internet information searching undergoing a transformation, and is this change beneficial? I believe the answer is yes. Why? Well, posing a question and receiving a response that mimics human conversation is a more intuitive and efficient way of sifting through information. This contrasts with the time-consuming task of browsing numerous webpages and news articles to locate required information. Furthermore, in the past decade, the commercialization of search engines has muddied the waters of information reliability.

The inundation of sponsored listings, Google PPC, Facebook ads, Twitter ads, LinkedIn ads, and more, often confuses users about the accuracy and relevancy of the data they find. Whether we are individual users or businesses, our desire is to swiftly access data that is understandable, pertinent to our needs, and free from the distraction of advertisers vying for our attention.

The seach wars is now going to morph in to the new AI wars will we see skynet in our life time? ChatGPT vs. Google Bard is only the beginning.


What are the differences?

Open Ai's ChatGPT uses its own Generative Pre-Training Transformer 3.5 (GPT 3.5) model or GPT 4 depending on which you use. GPT-4 is at current restricted to 25 questions per 3 hour period. While Google Bard uses Google's Language Model for Dialoge Application (LaMDA).

While the former two were trained on an extensive collection of internet text data, including documents, books, and articles, LaMDA was trained on Infiniset, a dataset with a specific emphasis on dialogue and conversations.

While GPT can understand and generate a wide range of text for multiple purposes, LaMDA was designed specifically to have more natural and open-ended conversations with humans.

This implies that LaMDA is trained to comprehend the underlying meaning and subtleties of a user's inquiries and contextual nuances. To accomplish this, the team at Google organized broad concepts and subjects into clusters according to their hierarchy. This structure was then utilized to guide the model's responses.

The responses generated by LaMDA are intended to be remarkably genuine, mimicking human conversation so closely that it's nearly indistinguishable from an actual person. It also has the ability to transition smoothly between topics as a user shifts the conversation, much like a human would. However, in its pursuit of authenticity, it occasionally oversteps by asserting it has emotions, which can be somewhat disconcerting.
